British troops loading weapons onto a train bound for Dublin from the Curragh Military Camp. At the beginning of the Easter Rising there were 128 officers and 2,265 men. So from the start the Rebels were outnumbered by nearly three to one. By the end of the Rising, British reinforcements had swelled to nearly four thousand troops.
