1916 Historical Walking Tour of Dublin
A clear history detailing the events surrounding The Easter Rising of 1916
2008 Summer Schedule

IN 1916 a small band of armed insurrectionists declared Ireland a Republic. This event is known as the Easter Rising, a violent battle which resulted in many deaths and the destruction of many parts of Dublin.

Lorcan Collins & Conor Kostick, authors of The Easter Rising and Shane MacThomais will take you to the relevant sites of the Rebellion in Dublin, Ireland, to give you an understanding of this historic occasion which precipitated the formation of the Irish Republic.

Have a look at the complete details of the tour schedule for information on the times and dates for this season.

But if you cannot get to Dublin this site also has some photographs of individuals at the forefront of the Rising and some recent pictures of the sites of the Rising. You might fancy yourself as an expert on Irish history so why not try our Irish History Quiz which is updated regularly. The site also features a timeline of key historical events and details of the various organisations involved in the Rising. And, like any good web site we have are linked to some Irish tourism sites

Lorcan Collins, founder of the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour and co-author of the Easter Rising, will be touring colleges and historical societies of the United States and Canada in March 2003. The lecture tour is now an annual event and has proven to be very popular. Using a slide projector Lorcan lectures on the foundation of the Irish State from the Easter Rising to the War of Independence and Civil War. Have a look at the details by clicking on the USA Tour section of this site.

We hope you enjoy the site and come to Dublin and meet us on Dublin's best tourist attraction! We appreciate any comments, suggestions or questions you may have regarding the site or the tour.

Praise for Lorcan and Conor's book
The Easter Rising
'A short popular-style history of the event -- indeed a remarkably thorough one, in which we discovered events we had forgotten or not known, and found photographs that were new to us too -- but the arrangement by location rather than time means that the devout pilgrim or visitor is encouraged and helped to view the places of significance.'
